Browlift at Lakeside Cosmetic Center

As we age, one of the most telling signs of change happens in the upper face. The brows gradually descend, contributing to a tired, heavy, or even harsh expression that no longer reflects how you feel on the inside. A browlift restores the brow to a more youthful, aesthetically balanced position, helping you look as rested and refreshed as you feel. At Lakeside Cosmetic Center, Dr. Chelsea Obourn approaches every browlift with a deeply personalized plan designed to honor your natural features while delivering a beautifully rejuvenated result.

What is a Browlift?

A browlift, also called a forehead lift, is a surgical procedure that elevates descended brows back to, or closer to, their ideal aesthetic position. By addressing both the position of the brows and the appearance of the forehead, a browlift can soften lines, open up the eyes, and restore a more refreshed, approachable expression. This procedure is frequently performed in combination with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty for a harmonious, comprehensive upper face rejuvenation.

Who is a Good Candidate?

You may be a good candidate for a browlift if you:

  • Notice that your brows have descended or feel lower than they once were

  • Have a heavy, tired, or stern expression that does not reflect how you feel

  • Experience deepening forehead lines or furrowing between the brows

  • Are in good overall health and have realistic expectations for your outcome

  • Have been considering a brow or upper eyelid procedure and want to explore your options

A thorough consultation with Dr. Obourn will help determine whether a browlift, upper blepharoplasty, or a combination of both is the right approach for you.

Cosmetic vs. Functional Considerations

A browlift is primarily a cosmetic procedure. However, in cases where significant brow descent is contributing to visual field obstruction or heaviness around the eyes, there may be a functional component worth discussing. Insurance coverage is very rarely applicable and this procedure is considered self-pay in most cases. Dr. Obourn will address any relevant considerations at your consultation.

Dr. Obourn's Technique

Dr. Obourn typically performs browlifts using the endoscopic method, a minimally invasive approach that involves five small incisions hidden within the hairline. This technique minimizes visible scarring while achieving a natural, lifted result. In some cases, the technique may be modified based on a patient's unique hairline, bone structure, or history of prior procedures. Your personalized surgical plan will be discussed in full detail at your consultation.

Where is the Procedure Performed?

A browlift is performed in a fully accredited operating room (OR) setting. This ensures the highest level of safety, care, and surgical precision for every patient.

Recovery

Recovery from a browlift is gradual, and most patients find that the process is very manageable with proper preparation and support. Here is a general overview of what to expect:

  • First few days: Swelling, bruising, and tightness around the forehead and brows are normal and expected. Rest is encouraged, and the head should be kept elevated.

  • First week: Most patients feel comfortable at home. Sutures or clips are typically removed within this timeframe.

  • 2 to 3 weeks: Visible bruising and swelling begin to subside. Many patients feel comfortable returning to social activities, though individual timelines vary.

  • 4 to 6 weeks: Most normal activities, including light exercise, can gradually resume.

  • Several months: Final results continue to refine as residual swelling resolves and tissues settle into their new position.

Dr. Obourn and our care team will provide you with detailed, personalized recovery instructions and are available to support you every step of the way.

Pre-Op Considerations

Prior to your browlift, Dr. Obourn will provide you with a comprehensive set of pre-operative instructions. General guidelines typically include:

  • Avoiding blood-thinning medications, supplements, and alcohol in the weeks leading up to surgery

  • Stopping smoking well in advance of your procedure, as smoking significantly impacts healing

  • Completing any required pre-operative labs or medical clearances

  • Arranging for a trusted adult to drive you home and assist you during the early days of recovery

  • Preparing your recovery space at home in advance for comfort and convenience

All specific instructions will be tailored to you and reviewed thoroughly before your procedure date.

Post-Op Considerations

Following your browlift, you will receive detailed aftercare instructions from Dr. Obourn and our team. General post-operative guidelines often include:

  • Keeping the head elevated, especially during sleep, to minimize swelling

  • Avoiding strenuous activity and heavy lifting for several weeks

  • Protecting incision areas from sun exposure during healing

  • Attending all scheduled follow-up appointments so Dr. Obourn can monitor your healing and address any questions

  • Being patient with the process — the best results reveal themselves gradually over weeks and months

Our team is always just a call or message away if you have questions or concerns during your recovery.

Risks

As with any surgical procedure, a browlift carries potential risks. Dr. Obourn will discuss all of these with you thoroughly at your consultation so that you can make a fully informed decision. Risks include:

  • Bleeding

  • Infection

  • Scarring

  • Hair loss in the area of the incisions
