What is Sculptra?
​
Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic form of lactic acid that is naturally produced in our bodies. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that simply fill in volume with an external substance, Sculptra works differently. When injected into the skin, it acts as a powerful collagen stimulant, triggering your body to gradually replace the lactic acid with its own natural collagen. The result is a slow, natural restoration of volume and fullness that develops beautifully over time. Sculptra contains no animal by-products or human DNA, making it a wonderfully safe and biocompatible option for most patients.

How Does Sculptra Work?
​
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body and is found throughout our connective tissue. It is what gives skin its plumpness, smoothness, and elasticity. Collagen also supports the production of elastin, which helps maintain skin shape, and hyaluronic acid, which cushions and hydrates the skin. As we age, our collagen production naturally slows. It is estimated that we begin losing approximately 1% of our collagen starting as early as age 18, with that decline continuing steadily over time. This gradual loss of collagen is what leads to hollowing, sagging, and the appearance of deeper lines and folds.
Sculptra addresses this at the source. Rather than simply replacing lost volume with another substance, Sculptra stimulates your body to produce its own collagen, gradually volumizing hollow areas of the face and restoring a more youthful, full appearance in a way that looks completely natural.

What to Expect as a New Patient

We require all new patients to complete a consultation prior to their first Sculptra appointment. This is a dedicated time for us to get to know you, review your medical history, discuss your aesthetic goals, and map out a personalized treatment plan together. There is no pressure and no rush. We want you to leave feeling heard, informed, and excited.
Because Sculptra works gradually, most patients benefit from a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart. Your provider will discuss the recommended protocol for your individual goals during your consultation.

Her surgical background and comprehensive knowledge of facial anatomy allow her to approach every Sculptra treatment with exceptional precision and artistry.

Eleni Filios, PA-C is a Physician Assistant who sees patients in clinic at Lakeside Cosmetic Center and also assists Dr. Obourn with cosmetic surgeries in the operating room. Her experience across both clinical and surgical settings gives her a unique and well-rounded perspective that she brings to each patient's care.
